Sheba Akhtar, author and assistant professor, will discuss the characteristics and influence of the Gothic Period, from urbanization and economic prosperity to professional guilds and the Crusades (1095-1211). Learn about the earliest patrons of Gothic architecture with a visual presentation featuring everything from stained glass to gargoyles that beautify the Chartres and Notre Dame Cathedrals.

This presentation is the second in an ongoing series on Art and Architecture.
