Program Description

Description

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ballet Folklorico Herencia Mexicana de Houston returns to George Memorial Library for a celebration of Hispanic Heritage art and dance! They will be performing colorful, cultural dances that showcase the vestuario (or costumes) and dances from the Huasteca region of Mexico, along with the state of Jalisco. Immerse yourself in traditional indigenous culture and folkorico art as Herencia Mexicana brings their most talented young dancers to the stage.

The Lamar Consolidated High School band -- the Spirit of Lamar Mustang Mariachi -- will perform afterward! Join us as a new generation of young music lovers carries on the tradition of mariachi music and culture, its songs, and its dance!

Sandra Noyola Smith will also feature as a catrina at this event, so get ready to take lots of photos!

Part of Fort Bend County Libraries’ “On Stage at the George” series, the live theatrical performances are presented FREE to the public.this program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the George Memorial Library.
