Program Description

Description

Licensed professional counselor Deanna L. Diamond will discuss the common triggers with which many struggle during the holidays, including familial interaction, navigating the stress of "plus one" functions, balancing our financial limits with others' expectations, coping with the increasing unpredictability of travel, losing privacy and personal space as a guest in someone else's home, and feeling overwhelmed by others' enthusiasm for the season when not in the same head space. This lecture will impart coping tools beyond stress management and self-care. Attendees will learn practical tools to help modify their thoughts and manage emotions, along with different coping strategies and how to discern the appropriate situations in which to apply them. Additionally, attendees will learn a few behavioral techniques for redirecting and changing their outlook as needed.  This program is made possible by the Friends of Cinco Ranch Branch Library.  Registration is not required.
