Program Description

Description

Join us as we explore the Japanese art of shibori indigo dyeing. Shibori is a resistance dyeing technique where fabric is folded and clamped between boards, stitched and gathered, wrapped around a pole, or pleated and bound and then dyed in a vat of indigo. We will be practicing the binding techniques on squares of white cotton fabric and then taking the program outside to dye our creations in indigo.

Materials will be supplied by the generous support of the Friends of Sienna Library.
