Fort Bend County Libraries’ summer schedule will begin June 2 and continue through August 4. During this time, George Memorial Library in Richmond and the Sienna Branch Library in Missouri City will NOT be open on Sundays. All other hours remain the same.
The summer hours of operation will be as follows:

Libraries Offer Amnesty Period, June 1-30, for Overdue Items
June 2024
Fort Bend County Libraries will offer an amnesty period June 1-30, 2024. Fines for overdue items that are returned -- during this period only -- will be waived.
Fines on overdue items returned PRIOR to this amnesty period, fees for items not returned, and fees for damaged items will NOT be waived.
Outstanding fees that were assessed for items previously thought to be lost, but which have been found, will be waived if the item is returned to the library – either inside or in the outside book drop.

Famous Poets to “Visit” George Memorial Library in Interactive Theatrical Experience

Special “guests” will be visiting Fort Bend County Libraries’ George Memorial Library (Richmond) in April for National Poetry Month! Library visitors will have an opportunity to interact with some of their favorite poets – both past and present – in a theatrical experience that is sure to delight poetry lovers of all ages!

Monique Franklin Appointed Interim Director for Library System

Fort Bend County Commissioners Court announced the appointment of Monique Franklin as Interim Library Director for the Fort Bend County library system on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
As Interim Director, Franklin will oversee the daily operation of the library system until the library director position is filled.

Mamie George Branch Library (Stafford) to Close Temporarily for Repairs

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Mamie George Branch Library in Stafford will close temporarily beginning Thursday, October 10, for repairs to the front parking lot. The library will remain closed until repairs are complete.
Books, CDs, and DVDs that have been checked out may continue to be returned to the temporary book-drop located behind the Mamie George Branch Library, even while the library is closed.

Happy 50th Anniversary to Albert George Branch & Mamie George Branch Libraries!

In November 1974, Fort Bend County Libraries officially became a library “system” when it opened its first two branches – the Albert George Branch Library in Needville and the Mamie George Branch Library in Stafford.
With the addition of these two locations to the original Fort Bend County Library, located next to Polly Ryon Hospital (now OakBend Medical Center) in Richmond, the goal of the founders to establish a system of libraries accessible to all residents of Fort Bend County continued to grow.
